Where "free" QR tools actually charge you
- The code dies when the trial ends — the most common and most damaging practice. A dynamic code stops pointing at your destination after 14 days and points at a payment page instead. Your printed material becomes worthless
- Scan limits — the code stops working after a certain number of scans
- Watermarks — the tool's name or logo appears in the downloaded image
- Vector export behind a paywall — PNG is free, but SVG and PDF, the formats you actually need for print, are not
- Design locked to a paid plan — colour and shape customisation requires a subscription
- Forced sign-up — your email address is the price of downloading
- High resolution behind a paywall — the free tier only exports something too small to print
An honest comparison
| QRLand | Typical freemium QR tool | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Nothing | $5–60 per month |
| Account | Not required | Usually mandatory |
| Number of codes | Unlimited | Capped by plan |
| Scan limits | None | Common |
| Watermark | None | Common on free tiers |
| Vector (SVG/PDF) | Free | Usually paid |
| Logo | Free | Usually paid |
| Code lifetime | Permanent | As long as you keep paying |
| Data privacy | QR content never leaves your device | Sent to a server |
| Ads | Yes — outside the creation flow | Common on free tiers, often full-screen |
| Scan analytics | No | Yes (paid) |
To be straight about it, the one thing we genuinely lack is scan analytics. Counting how many people scanned your code requires a redirect through someone's server, and that is impossible with a static code. You can still get it without paying anyone: point the code at a page on your own site and read that page's visits in your own analytics.
So how does this site stay up?
Two reasons. First, it costs almost nothing to run: QR encoding happens entirely in your browser, so there is no server generating codes, no database and no redirect infrastructure. The site is static files, and our cost does not rise as visitor numbers do.
Second, ads cover the rest. Rather than charging you, we show ads on the page — with one strict rule about where they go: an ad never comes between you and your code. There are no ads between the steps of creating one, no full-screen ads that swallow the page, no countdowns, no "watch this and then download". You will only see ads inside the article sections and after your code has downloaded.
What that buys you concretely: because we are not trying to sell you an upgrade, we never have to lock a feature. Logos, vector export, maximum resolution — all open. We wrote down exactly what the ads collect; your QR content is not on that list, because it never leaves your browser.
Your code working independently of us is a by-product of the architecture: if this site disappears tomorrow, your printed codes keep scanning. We present that as an unavoidable technical consequence, not a marketing promise.
Frequently asked questions
Is it really completely free?
Yes. There is no payment step, no paid tier, no trial period and no stage that asks for a card. Every feature — logo, vector export, maximum resolution, every design option — is open to everyone.
Will the download have a watermark?
No. Downloaded PNG, SVG, PDF, JPG and WEBP files carry no watermark, signature or site name.
How many codes can I create?
Unlimited. There is no daily, monthly or lifetime cap.
Could a code I made become paid later?
It cannot. Your codes are static; the content is inside the pattern and never passes through our servers. Even if this site shut down, your codes would keep working. There is no technical lever we could use to charge you.
Can I see scan counts?
No — that is technically impossible with static codes. If you need it, point the code at a page on your own site and measure that page in your own analytics.
Is commercial use extra?
No. We claim no rights over the codes you create; use them in products, advertising and any commercial context freely.
